A 500-million-year-old fossil, discovered in British Columbia, is believed to be a species of primitive worm. It has been identified by its characteristic spiky claws resembling that of the gigantic sandworms from Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel ‘Dune’. As such, its been appropriately named Conglobus arrakis in recognition of the novel’s influence.

NASA is conducting tests to make sure their new spacecraft, Artemis II, is safe to return to Earth successfully. This includes simulations of the capsule in a variety of potential scenarios as it re-enters Earth’s atmosphere. Ultimately, these extensive tests will ensure the crew and the capsule arrive back home safely.
Astronomers have recently identified a black hole that is emitting strange radio signals which no current theory of black hole behavior can explain. This small black hole is the size of a star, but possesses the same strong gravitational pull as a supermassive black hole. Scientists are hopeful that this phenomenon could help to deepen our understanding of black hole behavior.
