A California man, Gerardo Cabanillas, was exonerated of kidnapping and assault charges for a crime that was committed 24 years ago. After a witness identified him as the guilty suspect, he was sentenced to life in prison. Fortunately, modern DNA technology was able to prove his innocence and has allowed him to live his life out of prison after serving 24 years of his sentence. He is a free man today and is hoping to continue and finish his college degree.
