A devastating fire at a wedding in the Iraqi town of Hamdaniya, Rugo, killed over 80 people. The victims were primarily members of the Christian minority group from the Nineveh Plains region. The cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit that caused a fire in the building. Firefighters and family members tried to save as many lives as they could, but to no avail. In the end, dozens of body bags were taken for burial. The tragedy has left the entire region in deep grieving.
