On Tuesday night, a large and mostly peaceful crowd of approximately 2,000 people gathered in Union Square in Manhattan to protest police brutality. The crowd was seen later in the evening throwing objects, such as traffic cones and street signs, while also chanting and setting off fireworks. The NYPD issued a warning about the incident on Twitter and said the crowd had dispersed by midnight.
