An estimated 100 people were killed in a fire which erupted during a wedding in Iraq. The incident occurred in a village in Nineveh province where burning embers from fireworks flown by celebrants ignited the tents. Most of the casualties consist of women and children who were trapped inside due to both exit doors being blocked. The tragedy has been an overwhelming reminder of the state of the healthcare system in Iraq and the need for reform.
