An international team of scientists have used a special surface to give Mars rovers better traction on slippery terrain by using a hexagonal pattern. The design, which creates a divergent set of traction for the wheels, enables the rovers to climb obstacles and traverse sloped surfaces with relative ease. This new patterned surface could potentially revolutionize the way rovers explore Mars and other planets.
