Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave a heartfelt tribute to a Canadian veteran of World War II, who had received a concentration camp liberation medal during his service. In his speech Trudeau expressed regret for Canada’s treatment of Holocaust survivors seen in too many cases of refugees being denied entry to and humiliated upon arriving in Canada. Trudeau acknowledged that many survivors of the Holocaust still carry unimaginable trauma, and that Canada must take responsibility in honoring them.
