Firefly Aerospace successfully launched eight cubesats into orbit on its Alpha rocket’s first flight since a previous malfunction. The rocket lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base on July 4, after a scrubbed attempt on July 2. The cubesats, part of NASA’s ELaNa 43 mission, include satellites from the University of Arizona, University of Kansas, University of Maine, and University of Washington. Deployment began 35 minutes post-launch, but only seven of the eight cubesats were confirmed deployed. NASA and payload owners did not immediately comment on the cubesats’ status.
