For the first time, two different kinds of complex organic molecules, a type of building block for life, have been detected in interstellar space. The results, published simultaneously in two different papers in Nature Astronomy, suggest that the formation of these molecules is relatively common in space. This discovery could have implications for the evolution of life elsewhere in the universe.
