Graphene, a two-dimensional material made up of carbon atoms, has been shown to have a capability of allowing protons to pass through it. Researchers theorized that this action was caused by the edges of the Graphene rather than the flat surface. Through testing, the researchers confirmed their theory and discovered that the edges of Graphene have much higher proton permeability than the flat surface.
