Penguins are typically associated with being big and strong, however new research found a prehistoric species of penguin, called Perudyptes devriesi, to be much smaller than the average. Studies were conducted on the fossilized skulls of the Perudyptes devriesi, revealing them to be almost 40% smaller than one of the most common species today. This extinct species of penguin is now one of the smallest of its kind to ever inhabit Earth.
