In a study by a University of Amsterdam psychologist, the human interaction in a simulated Mars mission showed that an authoritarian leadership would be a concern for a successful mission. There were clear conflicts between team members, and evidence pointed to the more authoritarian traits of team members creating an uncooperative atmosphere. Long-term missions to Mars may require astronauts to be highly self-controlled and social.
