In August 2023, an exceptionally rare astronomical event will occur, in which the Moon passes close to Jupiter in the night sky. Usually such events occur every 13 years, but due to the moon’s orbital cycle relative to that of Jupiter, the event occurring in 2023 will be the closest event seen in over 400 years. The event will be visible from Earth without a telescope.
