He passed away in mid-June while being held by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Many of his friends and family paid their respects to him, despite U.S. travel restrictions due to the pandemic. The US has unveiled plans to develop large facilities to capture carbon dioxide directly from the air to combat climate change. These facilities would extract carbon dioxide from the atmosphere using a chemical process and then store or use it for other purposes. This would be a groundbreaking step in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as the technology has been proven and its feasibility tested in pilot studies.
