It appears the early humans were quite handy with woodworking – analysis of 500,000 year old wood found in Israel has revealed that early man was constructing architectural structures akin to those made with Lincoln Logs. Interestingly, the ancient wood was remarkably well preserved, thanks to a combination of the geologic layers and the acidic soil of the area, which allowed for an incredible glimpse of our primitive past.
