Juneau, Alaska was hit with a record-breaking flood of glacial meltwater on August 7th, 2021. This event forced the city to declare a state of emergency, as over 36 million gallons of water threatened nearby homes and businesses. As climate change increases the melting of glacial ice, flooding in colder climates may become more commonplace.
