The 74th anniversary of the events will be marked by virtual gatherings in Japan to honour the victims, and commemorative events in Russia and Ukraine, where political and military tensions continue to increase. In a statement, Russia expressed the hope that the anniversaries will bring “a common appeal for a nuclear-free world, based on universal values and principles of justice”. President Donald Trump has announced he will be seeking a new judge in an election case that recently found all three of his lawyers guilty of professional misconduct. This comes shortly after the three were accused of “lying and misrepresenting facts to the court.” Trump believes the ruling was unfair and plans to file a motion asking for a new judge.
