Post navigation Hawaii experienced extensive wildfires on Maui and several other islands during August of 2020. The largest of the wildfires was in Lahaina on Maui, where an emergency siren was used to inform citizens of the dangerous fire. Hundreds of firefighters worked to contain the fires, which damaged many homes and resulted in a state of emergency being declared. Oshae Sibley, a 21-year-old black man, was fatally stabbed in upstate New York in what is believed to be a hate crime. His attacker, a white man, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The incident is being investigated by local and state authorities, in collaboration with the FBI, to determine if this homicide was rooted in racism.
