President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe has been re-elected after winning the majority of the presidential vote. He faced a tough challenge from Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the main opposition party. Mnangagwa won with more than 50% of the vote, while Chamisa received 44.3%. The election, observed by regional and international observers, was seen as a crucial step in Zimbabwe’s transition to democracy.
