Purdue Pharma and its owners, the Sackler family, have agreed to a $8.3 billion settlement with the U.S. Justice Department to settle claims over their role in the opioid crisis. The majority of the civil settlement will be paid in Oxycontin product and the rest will be paid in cash from a trust established on behalf of the Sackler Family. The agreement has yet to be approved by the court.
