Researchers used the James Webb Space Telescope to study exoplanet LHS 1140 b, located 48 light-years away in the constellation Cetus. The planet, nearly twice the size of Earth, may have a thick atmosphere and an ocean half the size of the Atlantic. Using a spectrograph, scientists searched for atmospheric signs, suggesting LHS 1140 b could support a thick atmosphere.
