Post navigation A 2 million-year-old skull was recently discovered in China which morphologically deviates from current Homo species. The fossil has characteristics that can be traced back to the Homo ergaster, Homo erectus and even Homo habilis. It suggests that a unique species of hominid existed in Asia during the period of human evolution. Niger’s government closed its airspace on August 7th as a deadline set by the West African regional bloc ECOWAS for the reversal of a military coup expired. ECOWAS had given the military junta in power since April a deadline of August 6th to step down or face unspecified sanctions. The closing of the airspace is an important step towards containing the situation within Niger following the coup.
