Scientists have discovered an ancient, unexplored ecosytem off of the coast of Alaska that they believe has been nestled in the same spot for 20,000 years. This marine refuge developed in an isolated area of deep sea canyons, proving a haven for bottom-dwelling species, some of which are orcas. The ecosystem is likely to provide lots of insight into the biodiversity and resilience of the Pacific Ocean.
