The Department of Homeland Security recently published a rule that allows it to extend the stay of certain individuals entering the United States. The policy would allow individuals who have permission to be in the country to remain for another 18 months, while same-status family members would be allowed to stay for a year. The rule applies to those currently in the country with nonimmigrant visas, including students and business visitors.
