Post navigation An artificial intelligence system named Asteroid Impact Deflection Assessment (AIDA) mission has identified a space object of interest that could be a potentially dangerous asteroid. Scientists believe that if the assessment concludes that the asteroid might head toward Earth, the team will launch a second spacecraft to collide with it and deviate its trajectory. The mission is part of the European Space Agency’s preparations for possible asteroid-related emergencies. The navies of Russia and China conducted a joint patrol in the Bering Sea near Alaska in August of 2020. This is seen as a show of military strength by both countries in the region and it sparked concerns from the United States. U.S. officials have stated that the operation was conducted in accordance with international law.
