The U.S. Senate has decided to introduce a formal dress code for all employees, visitors, and Senators on the floor. The new dress code prohibits jeans, leggings, shorts, and flip flops. In contrast, business- or business-casual style of dress, such as collared shirts and slacks, are allowed. The dress code aims to bring ‘dignity’ and ‘respect’ back to the chambers of the Senate and ensure that a respectful atmosphere is maintained in all of its proceedings.
