This article explores how visual tools such as examples, symbols, numeric labels, and visual animations can improve understanding of computer science for more novice learners. The study concludes that visual aids can result in higher base-knowledge, higher self-efficacy and motivation in computer science in novice learners. Furthermore, the use of visual tools can also aid in bridging the gender gap in computer-related fields.
