Post navigation Scientists have successfully revived a species of roundworm that had been frozen in permafrost for over 46,000 years. Annually-layered samples of Siberian permafrost dating back to the Pleistocene era were used to find the worm, which was then revived using a mixture of soil and acids. This success provides new hope for the reanimation of extinct creatures, and furthering our understanding of evolution and adaptation. At least seventeen people were killed and dozens more were injured after a passenger train derailed in a rural district of Pakistan. Nine of the carriages went off the tracks after the driver reportedly failed to reduce speed when going over a bridge, which led to the fatal accident. Emergency services are still searching for survivors at the scene.
