Tropical Storm Beryl is expected to strengthen and make landfall near Corpus Christi, Texas, as a Category 1 hurricane by midday Monday. Currently in the Gulf of Mexico, Beryl has already caused significant damage in the Yucatan Peninsula and Caribbean. Hurricane and storm surge watches are in effect along the Texas coast and northeastern Mexico. The storm poses risks of damaging winds, life-threatening storm surge, and dangerous flooding starting late Sunday. This will be the first US landfall storm of the 2024 Atlantic season.
