This Groundstop caused major travel disruptions and delayed over 2000 American flights – stranding hundreds of passengers. The FAA lifted the Groundstop shortly after, resuming flights under the new system. California Governor Gavin Newsom announced a ballot proposal that would require ammunition purchases to be conducted through licensed dealers. The proposal would also require identification to purchase ammunition, and ban .50-caliber or higher rifles and magazines carrying more than 10 rounds. This measure is intended to reduce gun violence in California and ensure tighter restrictions on the types of firearms and ammunition available within the state.
