Post navigation On September 10th, 2017, a single solar flare was recorded by NASA astronauts and researchers. This enormous outburst of energy from the sun was felt across the whole solar system, including from Earth, Moon and Mars, all at the same time. This is the first recorded event of its kind, demonstrating the power and reach of our sun. Six years after being pulled from a flight, Jeanette Epps has been announced as part of the first fully-fledged, all-civilian crew of SpaceX’s mission in early 2022. Epps, an American scientist and engineer, was originally assigned to a space station mission in 2018, but abruptly reassigned due to NASA-called “personal reasons”. Epps will now be the first African American to stay on the International Space Station for more than a few days.
