Astronauts Matthew Dominick and Don Pettit have been documenting Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) from the ISS. Using math and orbital geometry, they pinpointed the comet’s location, as it wasn’t visible to the naked eye. Pettit described the unique perspective of seeing the comet from orbit, while Dominick explained their method of capturing it during the dark side of Earth’s orbit. The comet, initially a dim dot, is now brighter and visible to the Northern Hemisphere.
