A “naked-eye” comet, C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, will be visible over Massachusetts from Friday through Monday. It will be closest to the sun in its 80,000-year orbit. To see it, look east-southeast just before sunrise. The comet will be low on the horizon and visible for less than an hour. While its brightness isn’t guaranteed, its dusty tail should be visible. After Monday, it will reappear around October 12 for a few more days. This year has been notable for stargazing events.
