A newly discovered comet, Comet C/2024 S1, could become the brightest in 60 years, potentially visible during the day. Discovered by ATLAS on September 27, this “sungrazer” comet will pass very close to the sun, increasing its brightness. However, predicting its visibility is challenging due to its volatile nature, which might cause it to break apart. Mike Murray, an astronomer, notes the difficulty in forecasting comet brightness and timing as they approach the sun.
