About 30,000 police will be deployed across France on Sunday night amid fears of violence following a snap election where the far right hopes to gain a parliamentary majority. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced 5,000 police would be on duty in Paris to prevent radical groups from causing mayhem. Four people were arrested after government spokesperson Prisca Thevenot and her team were attacked while putting up campaign posters. Thevenot emphasized that “violence is never the answer” and vowed to continue her campaigning despite the incident.
