An international team of astronomers has discovered a new exoplanet orbiting the nearby star HD 86728, marking the first exoplanet detection by the NEID Earth Twin Survey (NETS). Detailed in a paper on arXiv, the discovery was made using the NEID spectrograph on the WIYN 3.5m telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory. Led by Arvind F. Gupta, the team confirmed the exoplanet HD 86728 b, orbiting a G3Va type star located 48.6 light years away.
