Comet A3, also known as comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, is becoming visible to the naked eye as it approaches the sun. NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick and Don Pettit captured time-lapse videos and images from the International Space Station, showing the comet as a fuzzy star. Pettit plans to photograph the comet daily to observe changes in its tail, which is expected to grow brighter as the comet heats up and its ice turns to gas, forming a coma. SpaceWeather.com reports that the comet is visible in the twilight glow of sunrise.
