Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is captivating early morning viewers as it streaks through the predawn sky. On Sept. 27, it will reach its perihelion, coming within 36.4 million miles of the sun, similar to Mercury’s distance. If it survives, it will be visible above the eastern horizon at dawn. A free livestream by astronomer Gianluca Masi of the Virtual Telescope Project will start at midnight EDT on Sept. 28, showcasing the comet from Manciano, Italy.
