Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS (C/2023 A3) has brightened as it nears the sun, allowing astronauts on the ISS to capture vivid footage. NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick shared a view of the comet rising beyond Earth, visible at 12 seconds into a short clip. On Sept. 29, the comet was 75 million miles from Earth and 38 million miles from the sun. After its closest approach to the sun on Sept. 27, it is now heading back to the deep solar system. Comets, typically miles long, heat up and eject dust and gas as they approach the sun.
