Earth has a new mini-moon, a near-Earth asteroid named 2024 PT, captured on Sept. 29. The asteroid, about 33 feet wide, was discovered by astronomers Carlos and Raúl de la Fuente Marcos. It follows a horseshoe path and will leave Earth’s orbit by Nov. 25. Although too small for amateur stargazers to see, Earth has had many temporary moons before, including 2006 RH210 and 2020 CD3.
