Fusion researchers globally are collaborating to address the energy crisis by developing reliable fusion energy sources. The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) is aiding the University of Seville in Spain with the design of the SMall Aspect Ratio Tokamak (SMART), leveraging PPPL’s expertise in magnetics and sensor systems. This collaboration aims to teach the next generation and advance fusion technology. SMART, a unique spherical tokamak with negative triangularity, is designed to be affordable for universities while contributing significantly to fusion research.
