Halley’s Comet, discovered by Edmond Halley in 1705, is famous for proving that comets can reappear. It has a 76-year orbit and was last seen in 1986, expected to return in 2061. The annual Orionids meteor shower, starting September 26, is caused by debris from Halley’s Comet. While the comet itself won’t be visible for another 37 years, the meteor shower offers a chance to witness its remnants as Earth passes through its dusty trail.
