Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban visited Kyiv for the first time since Russia’s 2022 invasion, suggesting a ceasefire to expedite peace talks. Despite a tense meeting, Orban and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy managed a public handshake. Orban, known for his friendly ties with Russia, proposed a ceasefire with a deadline to hasten negotiations. Zelenskyy, however, emphasized a “just peace” and previously argued that a ceasefire would allow Russia to rearm. Zelenskyy also urged continued EU military aid for Ukraine, which has reached $38 billion.
