Keir Starmer, 61, is a human rights lawyer and leader of the U.K.’s Labour Party, predicted to win the upcoming parliamentary election. A social liberal and fiscal moderate, he has been an MP since 2015 and leader of the opposition since 2020. Starmer, once an advocate for abolishing the monarchy, was knighted by Charles, then prince of Wales. He also supported Black Lives Matter by taking a knee. Starmer is poised to become the first Labour leader to win a U.K. election in years.
