More than 100 people were killed in a crush at a religious gathering in Mughal Garhi village, Uttar Pradesh, India. The incident occurred during a satsang prayer meeting, with overcrowding cited as the cause. Among the 116 dead were 108 women and seven children, and 18 people were injured. The crush happened after the event ended, as attendees tried to touch the feet of a religious figure or collect soil from the venue. Organizers had expected 80,000 attendees, but many more showed up.
