Record rainfall in Japan’s Ishikawa prefecture caused floods and landslides, killing six and leaving 10 missing. The cities of Wajima and Suzu, still recovering from a January earthquake, were hardest hit. Dozens of rivers overflowed, isolating over 100 communities. Two fatalities were near a landslide-hit tunnel, and three elderly individuals also died. Japan’s meteorological agency issued a high alert, later downgraded, but warned of continued rain. Floodwaters affected temporary housing for earthquake victims, and 4,000 households lost power. Over 40,000 residents were evacuated.
