Say hello to 2024 PT5, Earth’s newest mini-moon. This near-Earth asteroid, 11 meters in diameter, will be temporarily captured by Earth from Sept. 29 to Nov. 25, 2024, before returning to orbit the sun. Known as an Arjuna asteroid, 2024 PT5 will also come very close to Earth on Jan. 9, 2025. Currently located in the constellation Draco, this mini-moon is part of a regular phenomenon where Earth captures and releases near-Earth objects.
