Scientists have confirmed a sizable cave on the moon near the Apollo 11 landing site, with evidence suggesting hundreds more could house future astronauts. An Italian-led team found the cave at the Sea of Tranquility, 250 miles from Apollo 11’s site, using radar data from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. The cave, formed by a collapsed lava tube, is at least 130 feet wide and tens of yards long. Researchers compared the findings with Earth’s lava tubes, and their study was published in Nature Astronomy.
