A federal judge ordered US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to cease cutting through razor wire at the US-Mexico border. The order was in response to a legal challenge from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which argued it violated environmental laws and posed a potential health hazard. CBP had previously installed the wire without environmental assessment or permission from Congress. The judge’s decision grants an injunction to prevent CBP from further installation or removal of the razor wire, pending further review.
Customs officials in Rotterdam, Netherlands seized 17,600 pounds of cocaine worth up to €1 billion ($1.13 billion). It was the largest cocaine seizure ever made in the Netherlands. The drugs were hidden in a container in a shipment of bananas from Colombia.
