Harrisburg-based social media influencer Ronnell Johnson livestreamed and encouraged the looting of a Philadelphia jewelry store during the May 2020 protests following the death of George Floyd. After being arrested and charged with theft, burglary, criminal trespass, and criminal mischief, Johnson spoke out and admitted to his involvement. He spoke about how he was wrong and, in an effort to make up for his actions, has started advocating for reform within the community and the criminal justice system. Johnson’s story serves as an example of how an attempt to gain followers can lead to wrong decisions and the harsh consequences that come with them.
